उत्तराखंड मे स्कूलो मे कक्षा-2 के बच्चों को अब्बू-अम्मी पढ़ाने पर नई बहस छिड़ गई है. यहां एक छात्र के पिता ने देहरादून की डीएम से शिकायत कर बच्चों को अंग्रेजी की पाठयपुस्तक में माता-पिता के लिए ‘अब्बू’ और ‘अम्मी’ शब्द का इस्तेमाल किए जाने पर आपत्ति जताई है. छात्र के पिता मनीष मित्तल ने का कहना है कि अपनी अंग्रेजी की पाठयपुस्तक में ये शब्द पढ़कर उनके बेटे ने उन्हें ‘अब्बू’ और अपनी मां को ‘अम्मी’ बुलाना शुरू कर दिया है.उन्हें पता चला कि बच्चे की अंग्रेजी की किताब में एक कविता है, ‘टू बिग टू स्मॉल’. कविता में शानू अपनी मां को अम्मी कहती है और पिता को अब्बू. दादा को दादा, और दादी को दादी. आखिर में अब्बू, अम्मी, दादा और दादी जैसे शब्दों के अर्थ भी बताए गए हैं. इसी को लेकर मनीष मित्तल ने जिलाधिकारी से शिकायत दर्ज कराई है अंग्रेजी की किताब में ऐसे शब्दों का इस्तेमाल शरारतपूर्ण है. पिता ने इन शब्दों के इस्तेमाल को ‘धार्मिक आस्था पर हमला’ करार दिया है. उन्होंने डीएम सोनिका से मांग की है कि इन शब्दों की जगह अंग्रेजी के ‘फादर’ और ‘मदर’ का इस्तेमाल किया जाए जिलाधिकारी ने मुख्य शिक्षा अधिकारी से एक सप्ताह के भीतर जांच रिपोर्ट देने के निर्देश दिए हैं.
