मध्य प्रदेश के उज्जैन में यदि आपकी भक्ति सच्ची है तो भले ही आप पुनर्जन्म को भूल जाएं लेकिन भगवान शिव भक्तों के कल्याण के लिए ना सिर्फ स्वप्न में प्रकट हो सकते हैं बल्कि पुनर्जन्म की बातें याद दिलाकर बिछड़े हुए जोड़े को फिर से मिला देते हैं। चोरियासी महादेव में 45 वां स्थान रखने वाले श्री त्रिलोचनेश्वर महादेव की कथा कुछ यही कहती है। जिसमें इस बात का उल्लेख है कि जब उनके भक्त कबूतर और कबूतरी एक जन्म में बिछड़ गए तो भगवान शिव की कृपा से रानी को पुनर्जन्म याद आया और फिर राजा और रानी का विवाह संपन्न हुआ। 84 महादेव में 45वां स्थान रखने वाले श्री त्रिलोचनेश्वर महादेव की महिमा अपरंपार है। मंदिर के पुजारी पंडित अजय बैरागी का कहना है कि भगवान श्री त्रिलोचनेश्वर महादेव सिद्धियों के दाता हैं। इनका दर्शन करने मात्र से ही भक्तों को चाही गई सभी सिद्धियां प्राप्त हो जाती है। मंदिर में भगवान का अतिप्राचीन काले पाषाण का शिवलिंग विराजमान है, जिसके साथ ही भगवान कार्तिकेय, माता पार्वती व भगवान श्री गणेश, दोनों पत्नियों रिद्ध- सिद्धि के साथ मंदिर में विराजित हैं। मंदिर में एक विशालकाय त्रिशूल गड़ा हुआ है, जिस पर लगा डमरु मंदिर में आने वाले भक्तों को आकर्षित करता है।84 महादेव में 45वां स्थान रखते हैं मंदिर से जुड़ी कथा के बारे में पुजारी पंडित अजय बैरागी बताते हैं कि स्कंद पुराण के अवंती खंड में श्री त्रिलोचनेश्वर महादेव की कथा का उल्लेख मिलता है, जिसमें बताया गया है कि वर्षों पूर्व कबूतर और कबूतरी का एक जोड़ा जो कि भगवान श्री त्रिलोचनेश्वर महादेव का अनन्य भक्त था। वह मंदिर के आसपास ही रहता था। यह जोड़ा भगवान शिव को अर्पित किए जाने वाले अक्षत और उन्हें चढ़ाए जाने वाले पानी को पी कर अपना जीवन प्रभु भक्ति में गुजार रहा था, लेकिन एक दिन इस जोड़े पर एक बाज की नजर पड़ी, जो कि कबूतर और कबूतरी को मारना चाहता था। कबूतरी बाज के इरादे समझ चुकी थी, इसीलिए बाज उसे तो कुछ नहीं कर पाया, लेकिन उसने मौका मिलते ही कबूतर को पकड़ लिया। कबूतरी कुछ कर पाती इसके पहले बाज कबूतर को लेकर जा चुका था। उसने एक ऊंचे स्थान से कबूतर को छोड़ दिया, जिससे उसकी मौत हो गई।इस जन्म में तो कबूतर और कबूतरी एक साथ नहीं रह पाए, लेकिन उनके जीवन के कुछ पुण्य शेष थे, जिसके कारण कबूतर का जन्म राजा परिमल के रूप में हुआ तो वहीं कबूतरी ने भी नागराज के यहां रत्नावली के रूप में जन्म लिया। पुनर्जन्म के बावजूद राजा परिमल और रत्नावली श्री त्रिलोचनेश्वर महादेव का पूजन अर्चन करने मंदिर जरूर जाते थे। कथा बताती है कि एक दिन जब रत्नावली अत्यधिक थकने के कारण मंदिर में ही सो गई थी तब उसे भगवान श्री त्रिलोचनेश्वर महादेव ने स्वप्न में दर्शन देकर पूर्व जन्म की कथा बताई और कहा कि परिमल पूर्व जन्म में तुम्हारा पति था।रत्नावली ने अपने इस स्वप्न से परिवार के लोगों को अवगत कराया था, लेकिन भगवान श्री त्रिलोचनेश्वर महादेव की कृपा ही रही कि एक दिन जब परिमल और नागराज का परिवार श्री त्रिलोचनेश्वर महादेव का पूजन अर्चन करने एक साथ पहुंचे तो यहां दोनों परिवारों के बीच इस सपनों को लेकर चर्चा हुई, जिसके बाद राजा परिमल और रानी रत्नावली का विवाह हो गया। ऐसी मान्यता है कि श्री त्रिलोचनेश्वर महादेव ऐसे देवता हैं जिनके पूजन अर्चन का फल मनुष्य को किसी भी रूप में जरूर मिलता है। इस कथा में भी कबूतर और कबूतरी भले ही अपने पुण्य फलों को भूल गए हों, लेकिन महादेव ने उन्हें अपना आशीर्वाद प्रदान कर फिर से मिला दिया।
